Spending an afternoon in Bellapais

After a short drive (6km) from Kyrenia I dive into history pure in Bellapais, the cute laid back village where Lawrance Durell lived and wrote his book Bitter Lemons.

Just like him I loved spending time under the Tree of Idleness and taking a sip of my coffee in front of the famous Bellapais Abbey.

Inside the 13th century church there was a classic music concert I could hear from outside while I was enjoying the view down to Kyrenia and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean sea.

I walk around and get lost the cute steep narrow streets of Bellapais and find the house where Lawrence Durell lived in. The street is named after his book.

I watch the sunset from the car park while a group of Cypriots play music on a guitar and sing love songs.
