Street Musicians in Istanbul

No doubt that the streets of Istanbul are full of life.

Alone through the music played on the streets you understand why Istanbul is called “melting pot of west and east”. These street musicians were playing in Istiklal Street, the busiest and most lively and the most awesome street ever.

200 meters away from these musicians there were others playing the Italian song “Ciao Bella”.

500 meters away another band was playing “Sweet Child O’ Mine” . And in Tünel there was a Jazz concert.

If I had to give one single tip for Istanbul, it would be to walk down the Istiklal Street from Taksim Platz to Tünel and listen to the sound of Istanbul.

Ooo… by the way, there is a great documentary about the sound of Istanbul called “Crossing the Bridge” directed by Fatih Akin, a German director with Turkish background. Watch it! Watch it before you go to Istanbul. Watch it after you go to Istanbul. Just watch it. Here is the trailer of the movie.
